The courses includes certifications in skills such as programming, data science, artificial intelligence, digital marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&ldquo;Layoffs have affected hundreds of thousands of people in the United States in the past year,&rdquo; &nbsp;Udacity COO Victoria Papalian wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udacity.com\/blog\/2024\/04\/udacity-offers-laid-off-u-s-workers-free-access-to-full-catalog.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a blog post<\/a>. &ldquo;Unfortunately, the unsettling trend continues. According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.challengergray.com\/blog\/job-cuts-jump-in-march-2024-to-highest-total-since-january-2023-on-government-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Challenger Report<\/a>, US job cuts in March 2024 were the highest since January 2023, up 7% over February.&rdquo;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.udacity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Udacity<\/a>, which was founded as the outgrowth of free computer science classes offered in 2011 through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stanford_University\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stanford University<\/a>, said its free courses are part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udacity.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/nanodegree-101.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.udacity.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/nanodegree-101.html\">&ldquo;Nanodegree&rdquo; credential program<\/a>. They&rsquo;re available to anyone laid off over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its announcement, the company placed a particular emphasis on highly desired industry skills, such as generative artificial intelligence (genAI). According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0048733323001828\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a recent study<\/a>&nbsp;led by the Oxford Internet Institute, &ldquo;AI skills are particularly valuable as they have high levels of skill complementarity, increasing worker wages by 21% on average,&rdquo; the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&ldquo;To capitalize on the [genAI] opportunity &mdash; for business as well as individual benefit &mdash; learning about various genAI techniques is not sufficient; professionals must be inspired by the many use cases for genAI in the business, and must gain experience in putting that knowledge into practice within organizational contexts,&rdquo; Papalian said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper youtube-video\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Why tech workers are struggling to find jobs | Ep. 149\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QE_9Cbs2lEg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Online instructors include educators from various tech companies, such as Advocate Networks, Cape Analytics, DeepMind, LanceDB, Meta, NVIDIA,&nbsp; SoFi, and UC Berkeley, as well as Udacity&rsquo;s own instructors. The topics covered include AI, data science, analytics, project management, digital marketing, cloud computing, web development, and mobile development, as well as genAI for business leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students studying genAI will also have the opportunity to complete projects modeled on the realworld tasks and challenges in professional contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The free courses are available for all levels of IT experience and take about 4 weeks to complete during an average of 10 hours a week. These are examples of some of the courses being offered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to Python (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to SQL (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital Project Management (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generative AI Fundamentals (Intermediate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intro to Data Science (Advanced)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who can spend 20 hours a week learning can complete the following courses in 60 days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Business Analytics Nanodegree program (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Programming for Data Science with Python Nanodegree program (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI for Business Leaders Nanodegree program (Intermediate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AWS Cloud Architect Nanodegree program (Advanced)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By spending 40 hours a week, the following Nanodegree programs that typically take four months to complete can be finished in a month:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to Programming Nanodegree program (Beginner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital Marketing Nanodegree program (Intermediate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generative AI Nanodegree program (Intermediate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI for Trading Nanodegree program (Advanced)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data Scientist Nanodegree program (Advanced)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Udacity students will also have the opportunity to receive feedback on their projects from mentors.
